I know it has been a long time since I posted here but this is an experience I wanted to have record of because in my life I hope this is the beginning of many to come. I began working on Sasha's room almost a year ago... it began with just a want for a new space from her and some inspiration I had from knowing what she wanted. After many plans and different ideas this is the finale outcome. I've known I wanted to be an interior designer for a few years now but this was one of the first times that I realized that I did have a talent and an eye for design. Its not perfect, but its a start and I am proud of what the end result is. All links to furnishings are at the bottom of the post. No room design story would be complete without some before pics so here are those. It becomes very obvious from the before pics that Sash was in need of a space of relaxation and much less clutter. Here is the transformation! The two things Sasha wanted a lot of were colour and photographs! So I tried to make this happen in a variety of ways, though I didn't want the room to look cluttered or overwhelming. I loved this solution... I bought these photo ledges from Ikea, and then instead of using frames I cut down two pieces of wood and used push pins to turn those into "frames". We also painted the sides of each piece of wood to inject some extra colour when looking from different angles. I also love the wool pompom garland I added. A great way to update a plain dresser is to change the knobs and inject some fun that way. I used knobs from both Anthropologie and ZaraHome. I made the smile sign out of a pre cut piece of wood from Home Depot and then I used nails to create the letter outlines and string to pull it all together. Its quite a simple DIY project but really added a fun touch to the room. I also made this blanket ladder myself. I looked online for a long time to find one I liked but really could not that was at an affordable price point. So I made this one! I love the painted top rung on the ladder and the relaxed look of it. Two of the pieces to the room I knew I wanted right from the beginning were the wallpaper and the wrap around frames. This wallpaper was an inexpensive find compared to others that we also loved. The bed is pushed into the corner rather then being centred on the wall because of space issues, so I knew that we would need a way to make this look more intentional. The wrap around frames did this beautifully. So there it is!! I am so happy with the outcome and I know that Sasha and her family are happy with how it all came together! So excited to see what else comes in the future! If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask in the comments below. XO

Music has always been a huge part of my life. Although I don't have many of my own musical abilities, I am always listening and I tend to always have music on no matter what I am doing. Days like today, so cold and rainy, particularly make me want to curl up on bed. Here are five songs I am currently listening to on repeat Wildfire by SeafretAnother Day In Paradise by Quinn XCIICall You Home by Kelvin JonesAnything by Frank PoleRunning Out (Live) by Astrid SI think that a majority of people around January 1st have something in common... they want to get in shape and have a better level of fitness and therefore body confidence. It is now the end of March and to be honest a majority of these people have probably lost the inspiration! So I wanted to help, here are some great ideas for what to wear to workout. Maybe they will even inspire to get back to that resolution :) Tops.Bottoms.Bras.Layers.Good Luck!
xo It has been 7 months since I last blogged, crazy how time flies while life moves on. The reason I started blogging over a year and a half ago was as a creative outlet. Something to keep me occupied and entertained while school dragged on and as a place to show my personality and creativity. Unfortunately I had to take a long pause from blogging because life happens and it is a confusing journey at times. These past 7 months have been a hard time for me. I guess to put it in simple terms: life happens and not everything that happens is positive or easy. And that is something that people rarely talk about. I feel like I need to explain my absence from this blog. Although no explanation is truly needed, I feel for my own well being I want to explain. In all honesty, I had a rough beginning to the 2016-2017 school year. I got a little lost, and it started with me having truly horrible chronic migraines that disabled me from doing the things I love and functioning from day to day. I was unable to spend time with friends most of the time, be in loud places, complete school work, and really just be immersed in university life. These headaches were not something new to me but they were on another level that made it very difficult for me to live everyday. This did affect my mental health to a point where just getting out of bed in the morning was difficult. I had doctors appointments a couple times a week 3 hours away and so my time as school was limited already. I was truly only surviving, not thriving anymore and that was very hard for me to accept. If I could simply describe that time in my life, I would say I was self destructive. I was struggling. And I am very open about talking about it now because I conquered that. I know it is cheesy to say but I am stronger then I was before this year. I am happier, more confident, and more open. I am looking forward to what is next in life and I am looking forward to seeing where my life takes me. I am trying to do more for me, and less of what I think other people expect or want. And I want to start my blog back up. I want to be creative and show my life to the couple of people who see this. I know my posts used to make even a couple of people smile and that is important to me. So we will see where it goes! For now, this is me and I am happy to make this resolution as of March 27th that my blog is going to be a priority for my happiness and creativity! Unfortunately In the fall and for the beginning portion of this year blogging could not be a priority. Thankfully now I can get back to things and people I love. I feel back on control of my life, and I am so thankful for the people that have gotten me to this point. So... I am excited to get back to the blog and share my life. I'm in the middle of renaming and rebranding so bare with me! Lots of content to come! Yay xo
I'm back! 12 weeks at my summer home was amazing and the highlight of my year. The summer was full of amazing weather, hours and hours in the water, remarkable campers, and so many memories to last me a lifetime. Its always hard to come back to reality and all of a sudden be back with school friends, doing school work and being in a different surrounding. I am loving being back at school but I do miss my summer home and being able to see some of my best friends on a daily basis. Camp is a very rewarding experience and I am very happy with how the summer turned out. The magic of camp is a real experience, and sometimes it can be easy to forget the magic when you haven't been there in 8 or 9 months. It is always truly amazing how fast you feel the magic the second you step into camp. The friends you make, the adventures you have, the people you interact with, it all adds to the magic of camp. Some fun facts from my 3 months in the wilderness... ( some of these are approximates)
Lots of love to the summer... but I'm back now and ready to get back to blogging regularly because honestly I've missed it so much over the summer.
xo The master bathroom is supposed to be a luxurious place to relax and get ready in the morning. I wanted the bathroom to be light and airy but still feel luxurious and sophisticated. I decided to use mostly white and light greys but added in some blue and aquas through the tile and wallpaper. Hope you enjoy :) Three of these will hang staggered in the centre of the room. They are too small for a single pendant so the staggered three will be the perfect size. Pot lights will also be scattered around the room in order to add extra lighting. 3. A large soaker tub with pretty lines is exactly what the master bedroom needs. I love the look of this tub and how is curves at either end. And the standing faucet behind is simple and matches the shower pieces. These are trinket dishes that I will mount on the wall behind the cart. I hope this bathroom reminds you of a spa day! xo
A master bedroom should be a relaxing retreat away from the chaos of the household! I think white is the most relaxing colour and it looks so pretty layered in combinations. I decided to go with a white base colour and then a navy blue accent colour to bring in some interest. The big window in this room will help to keep things bright and airy. 1. I decided that because of the white head board the back wall needed something to make it a little more interesting. So I decided to go with large wallpaper panels on a white white. The panels will have white trim around them to add a 'frame'. 2. The bed is the main focal point for this room so I had to make sure that it would stand out and be a dramatic statement in the room. This headboard is tall and the king size bed adds to the largeness of the room. 4. This daybed will sit at the end of the bed to add seating. It will be a nice place to sit and relax and the low profile is perfect for the end of the bed. 6.The wardrobe wall on will have two sets of closets and then a dresser in the middle. Above is what the closet space will look like, the left is the glass door configuration, and the right is the inner organization. The dresser was simply a white dresser but I covered the drawer doors with wallpaper to dress them up a bit. I wanted the top of the stairs area to be a huge hangout space for both kids and adults. This space has so many bright colours and patterns just as I wanted it. It has areas for both studying or getting homework done, and for hanging out. So kick back and let your creativity flow... This chandelier with be placed twice in the room... once over the table and once over the lounge area! It is beautiful and simple but has a Moroccan vibe 4. Some more pattern to liven up the room. These chairs are in the same colour scheme as the chaise but less vibrant. They fit perfectly and I love the shape. 9. These baskets will be placed along the wall to hold extra pillows, blankets and other things that may be necessary. I found these garland and I thought it would be perfect for the room. It will be hung along the ceiling over the room in a pattern like the photo on the right! This room definitely has a different feeling compared to the rest of the house so far but I love the colourful feel it has! xo
There are some things everyone needs in their closet! Here are my top 5 wardrobe essentials along... 1. Black Jeans2. Cardigan3. Little Black Dress4. Boyfriend Jeans5. White ShirtI love these ruffle shorts! They are cute for summer and I like them so much that I had to get two pairs. I am a fan of fabric shorts and pants rather then jean in the jumper because I find jean to hot and uncomfortable. So these shorts are the perfect solution, and they look great with so many things. I love how these two pieces look like a romper together! The blacks are a perfect match and this outfit is so comfortable. I'm well into my summer at camp now but am trying to keep up with Dipped In Gold and keeping you all in the loop. Keep an eye out for updates about my summer :) I hope you are loving the summer weather and putting all your shorts and dresses to good use! xo
