When you are at university you definitely miss the comforts of home. Thankfully I was super excited to have a new space I could make my own through decoration and organization. I am going to be honest decorating my space was probably one of my favourite parts of coming to Queens. I am so happy with my home away from home and I hope you love it too! I am not a huge fan of empty wall space so I tried to bring things that would inspire me and make me feel at home. Pictures are the most important part of my room. Being able to look at picture of family, friends and fun memories make the tough days so much easier. I also printed off many prints from Society 6, an online print resource. This collage of prints is probably my favourite part of my room. I also love this shell canvas that I made before coming. I collected the shells on a vacation last year and the made this piece. I will admit that my desk it used more as a drop off zone then a study area, but it is an important part of my room either way! I use my desk on a daily basis, wether its for making lists, doing my hair/makeup or doing work, so I tried to make it as personalized as possible. I also tried to keep my desk surface as cleared as possible, this makes it easier to focus on whatever task I may be working on. My two best friends... easily washi tape and storage bins. Washi tape became a super easy way to decorate everything and anything! I wrapped the ends of clothespins in the picture above to personalize them a little more. And I have a bunch of storage bins in my room as well that have come in handy so many times. Storage is definitely limited in a dorm room so this is an easy solution to the problem. Here are the DIY instructions on how to make this paint chip calendar! Necessary materials...
