Sorry this has taken so long to post... but I hope the wait was worth it! Here is your guide to Queen's Homecoming! Homecoming at Queen's really is one of the best weekends I think of the year. It is a time that the entire school is involved in one event but doing a variety of things. The sense of community is obvious and the fun really doesn't stop. Here is what my weekend looked like...
Homecoming outfits are definitely important! It was freezing this year so we definitely had some difficulty deciding. Some people were wearing skirts and shorts but we stuck to more weather appropriate outfits. Here are some tips to looking in Queen's spirit...
Here are my tips to surviving homecoming!
One last tip... The tickets for the football game go on sale at 6am. We got up this year at 6 to get tickets but they don't sell out until around 10:30! SO the early morning wake up is not exactly necessary!
Happy Homecoming! xo

When you are at university you definitely miss the comforts of home. Thankfully I was super excited to have a new space I could make my own through decoration and organization. I am going to be honest decorating my space was probably one of my favourite parts of coming to Queens. I am so happy with my home away from home and I hope you love it too! I am not a huge fan of empty wall space so I tried to bring things that would inspire me and make me feel at home. Pictures are the most important part of my room. Being able to look at picture of family, friends and fun memories make the tough days so much easier. I also printed off many prints from Society 6, an online print resource. This collage of prints is probably my favourite part of my room. I also love this shell canvas that I made before coming. I collected the shells on a vacation last year and the made this piece. I will admit that my desk it used more as a drop off zone then a study area, but it is an important part of my room either way! I use my desk on a daily basis, wether its for making lists, doing my hair/makeup or doing work, so I tried to make it as personalized as possible. I also tried to keep my desk surface as cleared as possible, this makes it easier to focus on whatever task I may be working on. My two best friends... easily washi tape and storage bins. Washi tape became a super easy way to decorate everything and anything! I wrapped the ends of clothespins in the picture above to personalize them a little more. And I have a bunch of storage bins in my room as well that have come in handy so many times. Storage is definitely limited in a dorm room so this is an easy solution to the problem. Here are the DIY instructions on how to make this paint chip calendar! Necessary materials...

Homecoming is this weekend so get excited for more posts about the most talked about weekend of the year! I have only been at Queen's University for 6 weeks, and the time is flying by. One thing that I have found to be super important is getting off campus for a bit every week to hang out with friends. Another thing I have found... I have made the greatest friends here. I am so grateful for them on a daily basis. So today, on this chilly Sunday afternoon, we decided to take a break from the studying and our lovely res sun room and adventure downtown. We needed some good food and some time together off campus to clear our heads and get a break from the massive organization that is campus living. We wandered into The Works and had some much needed comfort food. The reason I find this so important is because Queen's can honestly sometimes feel like a bubble. If you tried hard enough you could go weeks without ever taking a step off campus. Its a nice break and is a stress reliever to get away for a bit. We had the best day today with many laughs and a lot of good food. So 10/10 recommending to get out, off campus and explore. You never know what you will find! Check out my Instagram for more details on my outfit! xo
My friend Hannah and I decided to dive into tackling a new experience at university... the res kitchen. I would like to remind you that this kitchen is definitely not magazine ready and has definitely seen better days, but we were ready for the challenge. We decided to stick to some basics... rice krispie squares and chocolate covered strawberries. Little did we know we would have much less equipment then we were both used to. Tips for using your a residence kitchen: 1. Make sure you bring everything you need, and I mean EVERYTHING. 2. Try to find recipes that need very few ingredients, these will be the easiest to buy groceries for. Since you do need to bring everything. 3. Make sure you are resourceful. You can usually find what you need to substitute in a material or utensil if you think outside of the box! 4. You may have to deal with some prehistoric appliances! When in doubt just start pushing buttons and hope for the best. Thinking outside of the box at its finest moment is definitely realizing that you have no pot to melt marshmallows in... Thankfully with some quick thinking we found a pan and used the oven as a heat course. Our theory... anything with butter, marshmallows and rice krispies would not end up bad no matter how they were made. Honestly the key to success is just to laugh and work with what you have got! We definitely added years to our lives with the amount of laughter. And we definitely enjoyed the visits from friends as our progress became more and more edible! The clean up was definitely worth it. Thankfully we remembered soap! xo
Needed an easy to throw on and comfortable outfit today, but didn't want to look slouchy either. Perfect combination of black skinny jeans and a comfy sweater was the solution. I layered a black longer tank underneath to add more detail to the outfit. I am a huge fan of shades and blacks and whites when it comes to outfits especially in the fall and winter. They look clean and crisp while still being feminine. You can never go wrong with a neutral outfit. Purse: Kate Spade Watch: Marc Jacobs Bracelet: Alex and Ani Necklace: Aldo Accessories Fall's in Kingston I have noticed get pretty chilly. This peacoat from Aritzia is the perfect way to stay warm on the lake. It looks nice and is easy to throw on over anything and everything. My perfect fall/winter coat. Thank goodness it's friday! xo
