So I guess its not entirely fictional because all of the answers are entirely true. Though I have come up with the questions to hopefully allow you to get to know me a little better. I hope this gives you a better insight into myself, my life and my blog <3 Some of them are funny, some are serious, and some are just plain random, but I think questions are the best way to get to know someone so here we go... 1.What is your favourite thing to do in your free time? Definitely I love to spend time with friends and my family, work on my blog, read, drive ( I love the drive) and I do find myself on the phone quite a bit. 2. Where did you go to high school? I went to Trinity College School in Port Hope, Ontario. I loved high school! 3. Where did you go to university? I am currently at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. 4. Why did you start a blog? I am a very creative person and I love to write. I found that in university I was reading and writing for school but the creativity was not there. Then some of my friends decided that I looked like the kind of person to have a blog and it just started from there. Blogging is a great way to be creative and connect with people. I have become slightly obsessed. What did you want to be when you were little? I definitely had a lot of ideas... I think at points I wanted to be a hairdresser or a teacher. And then once I got into middle school I wanted to be a doctor, this stage lasted until I was in grade 11. And now I am stuck on becoming an interior designer! I guess we will have to see if it sticks (I have a feeling it will)! What is the best compliment you have ever received? I think honestly the nicest compliments I have ever received were thank you's for random things. A genuine thank you I think is one of the hugest compliments because it shows that you touched someones life in a positive way! What are your favourite places to shop? Anthropologie, Zara, H&M, Aritzia, J Crew What are your favourite colours? My favourite colour right now is probably pink, but I usually wear black and whites a majority of the time. I also love bold colour combinations such as orange and navy, red and teal, or navy and pink. What is your proudest achievement? I was named Head Girl at my high school for grade 12 (think harry potter), and I think that probably was! It was an honour and I loved every minute of that role. Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world? I truly do love Canada, and I will probably stay in Canada for most of my life though probably in a larger city. But if I had to move anywhere it would be to California I think. There is something about it that has always been appealing to me for some reason. What is your middle name? Jane. Its my aunts name! Do you have any siblings? Yes! I have two... my sister Katie is 17 and my brother Ben is 15. What do you do if you can't sleep? This unfortunately happens to me often! Usually I will try to read or watch TV and if that doesn't work I will turn my position in my bed so that my head is where my feet usually are... it seems to work for me weirdly. What are your guilty pleasures? Definitely Netflix and my phone... definitely on both of those too often. How do you feel about friendship? I absolutely adore my friends. I have friends from many places in my life and am so thankful for everyone in my life. Describe yourself in three words... Loving, Committed and Kind What would you name yourself if you had to change your first name? I loved uncommon names! All of my kids when I get older will have uncommon names, not necessarily super uncommon like Apple, but just uncommon. I also love boys names for girls. I think I would rename myself Quinn or Elliot. I hope this allowed you to learn a little bit about me! xo

This powder room is definitely the smallest room in the house, and therefore I thought it was the perfect space to make a huge impact. This room has relatively high traffic because it is the only bathroom on the main floor and it will be used when guest come over. I wanted it to be warm but also make an immediate impact off the very white mud room and I think I achieved that. When I was talking about an immediate impact this is what I'm talking about! This wallpaper will only be on the wall with the sink and toilet but it is very visible as soon as you walk in which is what I wanted. This mirror will be hung above the sink along with two pendant light fixtures. Obviously this is not to scale but it gives you an idea. The other lighting in the room will be simple recessed lighting. 3. The flooring will be laid in this pattern and the tiles will be simple white subway tiles. I wanted the flooring to be white and simple in order to allow the accent wall to be the focus. 4. I love these gold animal heads. I chose to hang them in a vertical order to add high to the room. Everything in the bathroom is pretty low to the ground, these will add hight and interest. 5. This horizontal flower display will be perfect for the room to add another decor element. Its so pretty with the yellow flowers to compliment the wallpaper and it will span most of the wall. Finally these are the two hand towels I chose. They work in the room and will add something to the vanity shelf. The main floor is officially finished! Its time to go upstairs! xo
A mud room is supposed to be functional over 'fashionable', but I think you can make it both. Not a whole lot of detail to this hallway turned mud room but it definitely will get a lot of traffic so it needed to look pretty while being simple and sturdy. I have designed a built in storage locker system and bench into the one wall leaving the opposing wall to be for decor. I decided to add this hook system with the cubbies for extra open storage for the kids or dog stuff. Its easy access and visible for all the see so nothing goes missing before you head out the door. Plus this is a place to hang coats when guests are over so they don't have to go into the family lockers. I am officially at camp :) so you will start getting bi-weekly updates hopefully with lots of pictures! Happy Tuesday xo
1. Art SuppliesArt supplies are a must for any camp counsellor. Here are some of the supplies I always have with me at camp...
2. Water bottle (or 2-3)Water is essential anywhere but when you are out in the sun all day, everyday you need water. I usually bring 3 or 4 up with me because they they are always useful. 3. Kids BooksMy kids at camp are usually 6-8 years old and books become an everyday thing, usually before bed. I always have books in my cabin to read and the kids love them. There is one book that I found this summer that was really great... it is called The Rabbit Who Wants to Fall Asleep. I'll link it below but it is basically a sleep aid to help kids fall asleep. I swear it worked every night! 4. Shoes (Multiple Pairs)I usually live in flip flops, so I often have a couple of pairs! So here is what I usually bring...
5. Comfy BeddingPretty self explanatory but you need a good nights sleep every night! So having a comforter, multiple pillows and some blankets can make your bed extra comfy. 6. Beach CoverUps This summer I will be living on my camp dock, so coverups will by my daily outfit of choice... here are some of my favourites right now! 7. SunscreenAgain self explanatory... but it is super useful and needed everyday for both you and your kids. 8. SweatPants and SweatshirtsCold mornings and late nights call for some good quality sweat pants! Camp is one of the very few places that I will let myself wear sweats basically whenever I want! So here are some of my favourites... 9. Good Wireless SpeakersThere are a million different sets you can get! Honestly they don't have to be fancy or expensive, as long as they do their job they are perfect for camp! 10. Fun SurprisesIt always fun to have special things for the kids on the occasion. I always try to have a couple of different things in my cabin at all times so that a treat or surprise is always easy to achieve. Some of the things I have are...
Im leaving tomorrow so I can't wait to put all of these things to use! xo
A home office needs to be a clean space for anyone to get work done. Though sometimes offices can be designated for one person, I have designed this to be a space for anyone, though mostly the adults of the house, to get work done. It is located close to the action of the house so they are still easily accessible, but the glider doors can keep you tucked away. This colour is called Blue Haze by Benjamin Moore. I love the softness of this colour, it has a lot of white in it which makes it soft enough for the whole room. 1. The desk is arguably the most important part of any office and this desk is one that can stay for a lifetime. It has clean lines and a modern shape. It is made of stain white oak and the best part is that this desk is huge, big enough for multiple people to work at! 4. To add another pattern to this room I chose this rug. The pattern in simple enough to not overwhelm the room but it definitely adds some interest.
7. These cute floral pendants will hang on either side of the mirror which will be centred on its side. Hope this office inspires a lot of hard work and family time! xo
The living room is an important part of any house! It is a place to hang out with family and friends, relax and de stress. I wanted this living room to be light and inviting while still being functional. The living room has eye lines from the entrance, office and kitchen so it needs to be visually appealing from all angles. Go take a look :) 1. I custom designed this couch at restoration Hardware to make it look exactly as I wanted it to. I love the fabric, its grey but has a subtle purple hue to it and I think its perfect. With the rest of the neutral theme in this room its the perfect jumping off point. 6. I love the pattern on this rug. Its a simple running pattern but it is not too busy to be overwhelming. The colours are neutral to add to the overall vibe of the room. A couple of each of these pillows will be used around the room as decoration! Next up is the office! xo
I have always been in love with black rooms. I know it not very common to see and the thought is pretty dark and daring but I love the look and the tone it sets. So when I decided to design in hypothetical house that was the first thing I knew I wanted... a black room. At first I wanted it to be the living room, but the living room in this house has basically no walls and it would lose the effect, so I decided to go with the dining room. It's big enough and I have place three large windows to keep the space open and light. This paint colour was definitely my jumping off point for the room so I kept everything else pretty light, with honestly not a whole lot of colour. This paint colour is by Benjamin Moore, called Black Beauty. 4. Here is where the colour starts coming in! I loved this rug for this room because it is a bold accent of colour and add some fun to the room. It has a lot of personality, but the simplicity of the rest of the room allows for it. These plates will be used as the art piece on the back wall between the two windows in the dining room. They will be arranged in a random order in a random arrangement. Enjoy your meal! xo
I think that a white dress is a summer staple! It is clean, polished and perfect for the weather. White is such a summer colour, and its a neutral so its always one of my favourite colours to wear. This is one of my favourite dresses right now. I love the shift style and the eyelet detail is so simple but beautiful. I also do love the hemline on this particular dress. The scalloping is perfect for summer! A white dress could be dressed up or down! I would totally feel comfortable wearing this with heels, flats, or my white converse. I think that dresses are a staple for the summer and while everyone needs an LBD, a little white dress is just as important! So I found a bunch of white dresses that I love and linked them below. I hope you find your perfect LWD! xo
I recently get a NutriBullet for my birthday from my parents and I am completely in love. Since I got it I think I have made at least one smoothie a day and this past weekend I experimented with making a smoothie bowl. I'm sure you have seen them on Instagram and such so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about! It actually turned out really well! It is definitely a super easy breakfast or snack to make and it is super healthy for you. It is essentially just a smoothie with a bunch of toppings. I did a bunch of research before making mine to see what people put in theirs and honestly the biggest thing I found was that it was all personal preference. The best part about this was that we has all of these things in my house! So it was super easy to make and honestly anyone could do it! The first thing I did was chop up and lay out all of my toppings. Since it was my first try I wasn't sure how thick the smoothie would be so I wanted to make sure I had everything ready so I could assemble it quickly (for the pictures obviously). So I used half a mango, half a banana (the other half I put in the smoothie), half an apple, some rice krispies, some granola, some semi sweet chocolate that has been chopped up and finally some flax seed (not pictured). I decided to make two separate smoothies so that the colours were vibrant. The first layer was a smoothie that had ice, half a banana, kale and half of an acai super fruit package (I will link those bellow). The second layer definitely had a better taste to it and added most of the sweetness and fruity flavour. For this layer I put frozen mango, frozen strawberries, frozen raspberries, orange juice, milk and ice. Just throw it all in the NutriBullet and let it do its thing. Finally just throw all of the toppings on and enjoy! The best part about the bowl is that you can really use anything you want for the base and toppings. So experiment and find whatever you like best! xo Recipe: My Smoothie Bowl Green Base Layer: 3-4 large ice cubes 1 cup of kale (frozen or fresh - I used frozen) 1/2 banana (frozen or fresh) 1/2 of a acai super fruit pack (optional) Fruit Layer:
3-4 chunks of frozen mango 3-4 frozen strawberries handful of frozen raspberries 3-6 ice cubes 1 cup of orange juice 1/2 cup of milk Toppings: apple banana mango flax seed (ground) rice kris pies granola semi sweet chocolate Other toppings: (You can really use anything) orange berries chia seeds cocoa nibs kiwi corn flakes almonds coconut honey agave seeds peanuts cinnamon I feel like one thing that people don't do enough is say thank you... I'll admit that I don't say it enough either. But sometimes a conscious act or words of thanks can mean the world to the recipient. I try to thank people in my life often but most of the time things go by unacknowledged. So here is my conscious thank you to my best friends... only for the reason that they mean a lot to me and I am thankful for them on a daily basis <3 1. Thank you for all the bad food and constant cuddles Never was there a time when someone was having a bad day and nothing was done about it! The support is endless and food, cuddles and laughing always seemed to fix any problem. 2. Thank you for always being honest and telling the truth even when it seemed harsh Once you become close to someone this becomes one of the most valuable things about the friendship. It means a lot to know that someone has your back and will always tell the truth no matter how hard. 3. Thank you for reminding me that I know how to make friends The first week at university an honest worry was that I had forgotten how to make friends. I hadn't had to in a long time and it seemed impossible with so many people. Thank you for reminding me how easy it is 4. Thank you for the hours of talking... even though it was usually about nothing I could not count the number of random conversations had. Sometimes those random ones were my favourite 5. Thank you for sincerely loving who I am - just as I love all of you Love is so important in a friendship, it is a type of unconditional love. Even when things are not amazing, that love is always there. 6. Thank you for making me miss you This is an accomplishment when you are only a part of 4 days at the most. But now that it's longer then that I still miss you all the time and get excited for the times we do see each other. 7. Thank you for giving the best advice I think this is pretty self explanatory, but the advice given will never be forgotten (even if sometimes I don't listen) 8. Thank you for being my Instagram husbands on more then one occasion Seriously, THANK YOU! Starting a blog this year was way easier with you all there to help with the photography. 9. Thank you for embracing the weirdness We are all a little weird, and love each other more for it. 10. Thank you for our seemingly joint closets Figuring out outfits seemed like a daily battle... we all won because of the massive inventory of clothes we all suddenly had. 11. Thank you for always knowing if something is up This is like a super power between friends. You always know when anything is going on because we know each other so well. 12. Thank you for being the biggest supporter on social media Seem's silly, actually a valid reason to be thankful! Liking every Instagram is kinda in the best friend code it seems. 13. Thank you for being protective What would I do with out you all... I have no idea! 14. Thank you for all the times when no one was talking This seems to happen often... especially at meals. No talking, just people watching! 15. Thank you for always making it feel like I just saw you Even though the visits are spread apart, when we see each other it feels like no time has passed! Say thank you to someone in your life today! They may appreciate it more then you realize! xo
